Sri Lanka vs India 2017: Yuvraj Singh Sends out Best Wishes to MS Dhoni on his 300th ODI
The ongoing 4th ODI between Indian and Sri Lanka, witnessed a huge level of anticipation from fans, as Mahendra Singh Dhoni registered his 300th appearance in the ODI format.
Dhoni has now joined legendary Indians names like Sachin Tendulkar (463), Rahul Dravid (344), Mohammed Azharuddin (334), Sourav Ganguly (311) and more recently Yuvraj Singh (304) on the list.
Mahi has been in the news for much of this ongoing limited-overs series and before the start of it. The debate surrounding his place in the team has gained momentum due to his age and the 2019 World Cup equation. His effectiveness as a finisher was under question right from the mid-2016.
With World Cup 2019 in minds, the pressure on him has been extreme every time he comes out to bat. The ouster of Yuvraj Singh, which was later justified as a “rest” by chief selector MSK Prasad, added more uncertainty surrounding Dhoni’s place in the team.
However, just when everyone thought that the former skipper had reached his tipping point, Dhoni played a significant role back-to-back chases in the 2nd, and 3rd ODIs. His road to the 300 ODI landmark can be easily termed as one of the most exciting and most happening journeys in International cricket. As a mark of respect, Team India skipper Virat Kohli awarded a memento to Dhoni.
Friend Wishes Luck
Yuvraj Singh, who achieved the same mark a few weeks ago, took to twitter to congratulate and wish MS Dhoni all the luck ahead of the match. He wrote,
“Congratulations @msdhoni on a great milestone! One of the best finishers of the modern game. Go well today.

Yuvi’s good wishes did work as Dhoni ended up with a highly helpful knock of 49 after coming out bat in the midst of another batting slump, making it three back to back team revivals on the trot.
