Sri Lanka vs Pakistan third ODI preview : Sri Lanka looking to carry on the momentum
The 3rd ODI between Sri Lanka and Pakistan begins tomorrow at Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Sri Lanka, after winning the second ODI with two wickets levelled the series 1-1.
After winning the Toss Pakistan decided to bat first and posted a formidable 287 on the board with the Skipper Azhar Ali being the top scorer, scoring 79 runs from 104 balls. Sri Lanka were off to a stunning start in their chase and went on to score 98 runs in the initial power play. Pakistan managed to come back in the game by picking up four wickets in quick succession and left Sri Lanka in tatters at 196/5 from 130/1 at one point. Kusal Perera managed to score the second fastest fifty in ODI’s scoring 68 from 28 balls. However, Sri Lanka managed to get out of jail and won by 2 wickets with 11 balls to spare. Dinesh Chandimal took Sri Lanka home with an unbeaten 48*.
One can say that the third ODI between these two teams is another cracking contest in the offer with the series levelled at 1-1.
Pakistan batsman Mohammad Hafeez has been in poor form of late and recently he has been banned from bowling due to illegal action for one year by the ICC which is a huge blow. Pakistan would love to see Hafeez striking form in the third ODI.
However, for Sri Lanka they got the much needed momentum in the second ODI and would love to carry on by taking the lead in the third ODI. Skipper Angelo Matthews was not amongst the runs in the second ODI and he would love to lead from the front with his all-round performance in the third ODI.
Sri Lanka will start as the firm favourites in the third ODI with the momentum they got in the second ODI and they are very familiar with their Home conditions.
Both the teams are most likely to retain the same eleven in the third ODI with no changes in the playing eleven.
