Former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth has received Lifetime Achievement Award from BCCI this year. In an interview, he talked about his game and said that if he had some discipline like Virender Sehwag, he would totally have a different game.

Virender Sehwag’s style of batting was compared with the Srikkanth as both were the openers for India. They both were the swashbuckling batsman who liked hitting hard the ball and believed in striking boundaries. The two batsmen played fearlessly and could destroy the strongest opponent with their batting.

Srikkanth played 43 Test matches and 146 ODIs for India. He was one of the heroes of the World Cup triumph in 1983. At the age of 32, he announced his retirement from the game of cricket.

Srikkanth believed that he would have scored more runs for his team if he had discipline like the former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag.

“Well, at times I feel if only I had the discipline of Sehwag, I, too, would have got those runs that he got. Sehwag was a brilliant player but even when he was playing those dazzling shots, he knew how to control his innings and not throw it away,” Srikanth said to TOI.

Virender Sehwag scored 8586 runs in 104 Test matches for India. He is the only Indian cricketer who scored two triple centuries in the longest format of cricket.

After his retirement from cricket, Krishnamachari Srikkanth has been a broadcaster and commentator with various sports and news channels. On 18 February 2008, Krish Srikkanth was named the ambassador for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise of the Indian Premier League. On 27 September 2008, he was appointed the Chief Selector of the Indian Cricket team which ended in 2012.
