Star KKR player missing from squad to face the Lions with leg-injury 1

The Indian Premier League is now into its business end with the points table taking proper shape and teams already calculating scenarios for qualification.

This makes the tournament even more interesting with every game and every point becoming all the more valuable.

The Kolkata Knight Riders who had a great start to their campaign have lost 2 out of their last 3 games and are looking slightly shaky at the crucial time.

And they were dealt a big blow today after it was revealed that star West Indies all-rounder Andre Russel picked up an injury.

The recent T20 World Cup winner has been an integral part of the squad contributing with the bat and the ball and has been a star player for the side all season.

Sitting third on the Purple Cap list, Russel has already picked up 15 wickets this season and is in some decent form since the start of the T20 World Cup. He has also scored 188 crucial runs with the bat and has been a true match winner for his side.

However, the 28-year old limped away half way through the game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore earlier this week and it is now understood that the injury sustained was to his left leg and that he was not a part of the squad that traveled for the match against the Lions on Thursday.

The Lions are currently in the 4th place in the points table but are level on points with the Kolkata Knight Riders who they face at home on 19th.

This is set to be a deciding game as both the teams need two victories from their remaining fixture to cement a place in the qualifiers. The team that loses this battle will surely have to depend on other results and the West Indian all-rounder is set to miss this crunch tie.

The medical staff is monitoring his injury and a definitive prognosis is likely in the coming days but the KKR outfit will be praying for him to return to the squad as quickly as possible.
