Senior Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara was arrested on Monday after being involved in a fatal road accident. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed that a 28-year-old man, who was driving a motorcycle died due to the crash.

The accident happened in Kirillawela area of Kadawatha when the fast bowler was returning from Kandy to Colombo on Monday afternoon.
The vehicle that Kulasekara was driving, collided with the motorcycle, and the two-wheeler driver died on the spot. As a result, the bowler was arrested but the police released him on bail after admitting that it was not his fault. The motorcycle had flung in way of Kulasekara’s vehicle and the accident occurred. The 34-year old will be produced before a local magistrate in the coming days.
Sri Lanka Cricket tweeted to confirm that the pacer was granted bail on Monday.

A Sri Lanka Cricket release said: “Preliminary inquiries have revealed that Mr Kulasekara was returning to Colombo from Kandy, when the unfortunate motorcycle rider who was travelling in the opposite direction had lost control of his bike whilst trying to overtake a bus and got flung into Mr Kulasekara’s path”.
Kulasekara, who is Sri Lanka’s frontline bowler in limited-overs cricket, has played 173 One-Day Internationals so far. And after playing 21 Tests for his country, he quitted the format to concentrate on limited-overs format.
