During the ongoing third ODI between Australia and Pakistan at Perth, young Pakistan batsman Babar Azam got himself etched within the record books. Azam became the joint fastest batsman to get to 1000 ODI career runs in terms of innings played. The record, which was set almost 37 years ago by the legendary Vivian Richards, had Babar as one of the entrants.
Azam got to the milestone in just his 21st ODI inning, as he played a calm and composed knock against Australia on a juicy track at Perth. Along with Richards and Babar, there are three more individuals who got to the coveted milestone in their 21st ODI innings.
England’s Kevin Pietersen and Jonathan Trott too got to the milestone in their 21st inning. Both batsmen were key contributors for England in this format as their solid performances were more often than not match winning.
Along with them, South Africa’s current wicket-keeper and batting sensation Quinton De Kock features in this elite list as well. De Kock, who has been a modern day batting great, got to the 1000 runs ODI mark in his 21st outing as well.
