Stylish batsman Ian Bell on January 23rd, 2015 surpassed former skipper Paul Collingwood to become the highest run-scorer for England in ODIs. He achieved this feat in his 153rd ODI against Australia at Hobart.
Coming into this match, Bell had 4995 runs and he needed 98 more runs to break the Collingwood’s record of 5092 runs. Bell, not only got to 5093 runs, but also brought up his 4th hundred for England.
The other England batsmen to have scored the most runs in ODIs are former opener Marcus Trescothick, who has the most number of hundreds for them in ODIs, former wicket-keeper batsman Alec Stewart and the discarded batsman Kevin Pietersen.
