The IPL has gone into the second half of its initial ten-year plan, and it can be that the high-profile tournament has passed the litmus test, proving its detractors wrong . The seven seasons held so far have seen a lot of fantastic performances and the same can be expected out of season eight, that has already witnessed good all-round shows including that of James Faulkner’s against Kings XI Punjab. During the first 7 seasons, some amazing stats came into notice. So, let us take a look at the most runs scored by a batsman in a single IPL season:
Swashbuckling batsman Chris Gayle, in 2012, recorded the most runs in a single IPL season. In his 15 matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore, he scored 733 runs at an outstanding average of 61.08 with a hundred and 7 fifties.
Among the five batsmen that feature in the list of most runs in a single edition of IPL, KKR’s Robin Uthappa is seen at fourth position. After struggling in the middle-order for the first few matches in IPL 2014, Gautam Gambhir promoted him up the order and he made full use of the opportunity and turned out to be the highest run-scorer for KKR in the season.
