Australian batsman David Warner leads the charts of most Test runs by an opener in Tests. In the 7 Tests, Warner has scored 959 runs at an average of 73.76 with 5 hundreds and 3 fifties.
Earlier this year, during Australia’s tour of South Africa, David Warner scored consecutive hundreds in the third Test at Cape Town, single-handedly taking the match and the series away from South Africa.
Warner scored his 7th hundred of this year against India in the ongoing first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on December 9th. He scored 145 runs off 163 balls, his highest in 2014. After the day’s play, Warner expressed that this was probably the best innings of his career, seeing the frame of mind he was in after the unfortunate demise of his New South Wales and Australia mate Phillip Hughes.
Sri Lankan opener Kaushal Silva is second in the list followed by the current Pakistan’s best batsmen and opener Ahmed Shehzad.
