Stat Attack: MS Dhoni in Numbers on the Occasion of his 300th ODI
Jan 9, 2019 at 4:02 PM
MS Dhoni on Thursday entered the elite “Club 300”, as India took on Sri Lanka in the 4th ODI at RPS, Colombo. He is now the sixth Indian player along with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar (463), Rahul Dravid (340), Mohammad Azharuddin (334), Sourav Ganguly (308) and Yuvraj Singh (301) to feature in 300 ODI matches. Along with that, he will be the second wicket keeper after Kumar Sangakkara (360) and the 20th overall player to achieve such feat.
Today’s game is a special occasion for one of the most revered cricketers in the history of Indian cricket. To make it even more pleasant, skipper Virat Kohli presented Dhoni with a memento just before the start of the game.
Dhoni, who is currently fighting it out to prove his critics wrong, will again be a vital cog in the Indian middle-order if the top order fails to get going again. While the entire tour has been an easy peasy affair for Team India, the last two ODIs at Pallekelle have been somewhat testing. Indian were left to face a potentially losing situation on both occasions before Dhoni played the anchor’s part to take Indian past the winning line.
As of now, Dhoni may be under a lot of pressure to prove his worth in the current team, but over the years, since making his international debut in 2004 against Bangladesh, he has been creating and breaking unique records.
Let’s have a small glance at some of his unique records
