- Virender Sehwag 219 vs West Indies – 2011:
Virender Sehwag’s last ODI century was his most adored one as he simply tore into the helpless West Indian bowling lineup at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. With regular skipper MS Dhoni opting to rest for the series, Sehwag led the Indian side and was at his supreme best in the fourth ODI of the series. After opting to bat first on an absolute paradise, Sehwag was on the money right away as his timing remained crisp. Once the Nawab of Najafgarh crossed 50, it seemed clear that something extraordinary was on cards. Sunil Narine, the one to put the Indian batsmen under pressure in the previous game was massacred by Sehwag.
Sehwag went on become only the second batsman in ODI history to get to a double century as he went past the 200* mark of Sachin Tendulkar. Sehwag went on to score 219 off 149 deliveries and held the record for the highest individual score in ODI’s, before Rohit Sharma broke it in November 2014. Having said that, Sehwag’s batting display remained special from all angles.
