- Sachin Tendulkar 186* vs New Zealand – 1999
The Master Blaster left everyone spellbound with his class at Hyderabad as he collaborated alongside Rahul Dravid to rewrite the record books. After losing the first wicket with 10 on board, Tendulkar put on 331 runs alongside Dravid for the second wicket. This remained the highest ever partnership in ODI cricket history before Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels overhauled the tally against Zimbabwe in the 2015 World Cup.
The special aspect about this knock from Tendulkar was that all his shots were timed to perfection and he seemed to be in no trouble against any bowler. 10 and a half years later, though, Tendulkar went past his own mark and registered the first ever double century in ODI cricket against South Africa.
