Looking at the current form of West Indies, one would doubt this record but yes, West Indies was the biggest powerhouse of cricket during 1980s-90s. They had legends like Viv Richards, Courtney Walsh, Malcolm Marshall, Clive Llyod, Bria Lara too made his debut during heydeys of West Indies. Fast bowling unit was the main strength of West Indies as batsmen used to fear their fierce bowlers. They used to bowl at a fast pace on regular basis and no one had the courage to face them. When India defeated West Indies in 1983 World Cup, instead of talking about India, all the pages were filled with the news of West Indies being stunned by India. This is enough to tell their dominance at that time. Their victory period started from the year 1980 when they defeated England in 1980 by a margin of 1-0. Their streak was finally ended by Australia who defeated the giants in their own den by a margin of 2-1 in four Test series. From then, slowly the dominance of West Indies in world cricket was over and it was Australia who soon emerged from the ranks in upcoming years.
