Nowadays strike rate plays a very important role in the life of a batsman.
Due to the advancement of T20 format in the world of IPL, it has almost become a tradition now that if we want to know about the capabilities of a batsman, we take a look at his strike rate.
But even before the birth of T20 cricket, the world has seen explosive batsmen in ODIs . We have seen batsmen like Shahid ‘BOOM BOOM’Afridi, Sanath Jayasuriya, Adam Gilchrist, Mathhew Hayden, Virender Sehwag who were nightmares for bowlers on the field but they had their own style to entertain the audience.
When they used to come to bat, everyone used to leave all their work and remained glued to their batting . We jumped on their fours, clapped on their sixes , sighed on their misses and showed utter disgust when they got out. The people just loved them for their fiery attitude while batting and frankly they never learnt to play slow. This ultimately contributed to their healthy strike rate, which hardly went south of 100.
In this statistics, lets take a look at top 10 batsmen who have faced a minimum of 500 balls in ODIs and have the highest batting averages:
