India v Sri Lanka ODI

After a defeat in the three-match Test series against India, The Sri Lankans are back at the hunt in the One Day International format. The team looks hungry for a win with the coloured jersey on, and they are proving it on the field. The Indian batting line up looked miserably shaky in the absence of skipper Virat Kohli who is busy with his wedding plans.

Stats: India create a shameful record 1

The Indian side led by skipper Rohit Sharma find themselves in huge trouble at Dharamshala with seven wickets down for just 29 runs. The Sri Lankan bowlers are running riot through the Indian batting as nobody in the team reached double figures except Hardik Pandya. The Indians created a record which they will never want to look back at when they lost their 5th wicket for the score of 16.

It is the lowest Indian score ever with the fall of the 5th wicket which surpassed the previous record of 17 runs for 5 in the 1983 World Cup. However, the legendary Kapil Dev was there to rescue the team with an incredible 175 run knock later on which not only saw India win the match but the team also went on to win the World Cup defeating the West Indies in the finals.

Suranga Lakmal has been the pick of Lion’s bowler so far with four wickets to his name while Nuwan Pradeep grabbed two. Veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews got his solitary wicket when he wrapped Shikhar Dhawan on the pads for a duck.

The Indians desperately need someone to repeat Kapil Dev’s act to get to a respectable position in the match. Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Kuldeep Yadav are currently at the crease with the legendary captain being the last hope for the Indians. However, according to the proceedings at Dharamshala, the Sri Lankans are poised to go up 1-0 in the series.
