Stats: Jonny Bairstow breaks V.V.S. Laxman's record! 1
Jonny Bairstow to replace Alex Hales in England's T20 squad against India.

England wicket-keeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow has entered the record books as the England middle order batsman has broken the record of Indian great V.V.S. Laxman during the first Test match against Bangladesh.

Bairstow, this season, while batting at number 6 position has scored a total of more than 1000 runs and the number is still counting and increasing with almost every ball he plays. Previously, the record of most runs batting at number 6 was held by V.V.S. Laxman who had scored 984 runs batting at this position in the year 2002. From then, no other batsman came to close to this record as it’s never easy to score this much runs batting at number 6. Mike Hussey, who hit 898 runs in the year 2012 was the last player to come close to Laxman’s record but could not accomplish the task. Laxman continued to hold this record for a record period of 14 years  but finally, Johny Bairstow broke this record today.

We will surely see Bairstow crossing the 1500 run mark at this position this year itself as England is yet to play 6 more Test matches this more and his current form suggests that he will set a new milestone this year.

It has been a glorious year him as he started the year with a score of 150* against South Africa. From then, he has scored 850* runs more and has tumbled the 14 years old record held by Laxman.

He has set a bar and put up a big challenge for every batsman. This record is unlikely to be broken for many-many years to come.
