Stats: Most Centuries By A Player In The History Of Champions Trophy 1

Over the years, the ICC Champions Trophy has been graced by some of the greatest names in modern cricket. The tournament, which began as the ICC Knock Out Tournament in 1998, is all set to enter its ninth edition. The latest edition will be played in England from June 1-18.

The format of the tournament is such that it rarely provides any team or any individual to relax but then there are few players who have made a big mark in this tournament which is nothing less than a mini World Cup. And the likes of Sourav Ganguly, Herschelle Gibbs, and Chris Gayle are few players who have managed to do really well in the Champions Trophy. The trio currently holds the record of most number of centuries in the ICC Champions Trophy history with three each.

Gayle, who was the second leading run scorer of 2004-tournament-winning West Indies team, scored all of his three centuries in the 2006 edition when his side finished runners-up. So far, he has scored 791 runs in a total of 17 games and remains the leading run-scorer in the tournament. A player who really enjoy playing in this tournament, Gayle also has 17 wickets to his name but unfortunately, he will not be seen this time around as West Indies have failed to make the cut.

Ganguly, who led India to its maiden Champions Trophy title in 2002, has also notched up three Champions Trophy centuries and is the fourth highest run-getter in the tournament with 665 runs to his name while former South Africa opener Herschelle Gibbs has scored 460 runs in 11 matches with the help of three centuries.
