In this new millennium, the cricket has changed a lot. ICC changed the rules to make the game more attractive. In 2006, South Africa won against Australia chasing 434 runs formidable total. Centuries in ODIs was one of the fascinating things in world cricket. But, now it seems that the days of centuries has gone and people love to hear double hundred in ODI cricket.
Sachin Tendulkar was the first man to score a double hundred. In 2010, the little master has scored his first double hundred against South Africa at Gwalior.
After Sachin Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Martin Guptill and Chris Gayle are the four batsmen who joined the double hundred club. Rohit Sharma is the only batsman who scored two double hundred.
Recently India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded 106 runs against South Africa in the fifth and final ODI at Wankhede at Mumbai of the Gandhi-Mandela ODI series. Kumar is the second in the list of most runs conceded by a bowler in the history of ODI cricket.
Similarly, the record of death over bowling also affected due to change of ICC rules over the years. It was seen that 28 runs were scored in the first 10 overs and 146 runs in the last 10 overs. In the 2015 World Cup, it was observed that, owing to fielding restriction during the death overs, teams targeted last 10 overs to accumulate runs.
But, here is the list of top 10 teams who conceded least number fours in the last 10 overs of an ODI.
Pakistan in the second ODI of the five-match ODI series at Sharjah Pakistan from 135 for 4 suffered a big collapse as they all out for 208 runs in 49.5 overs. During Pakistan’s innings once a boundary came after 75 balls. Pakistan in the first ODI at Abu Dhabi ODI against England did not concede boundaries for the last 58 deliveries.
