1. 413 – Vinoo Mankad and Pankaj Roy:
The record of highest partnership for India in Tests was registered by Vinoo Mankad and Pankaj Roy when they added a mammoth 413 runs for the first wicket against New Zealand in 1956 in Chennai. The partnership remained the highest stand for the first wicket for 52 years until it was broken by South African openers Neil McKanzie and Graeme Smith.
Mankad scored 231 while Roy ended on 173. The hosts scored a mammoth 537 runs and won the match by an innings and 109 runs.
