Stats: Virat Kohli Becomes The First ODI player To Be Involved In Ten 200 Run Stands
Indian skipper Virat Kohli is breaking quite some records over the past few months. The latest being the first player in ODI history to play a hand in ten different double century stands.
The 28-year old is in sensational form over the past couple of years and has been amassing runs at will across all the conditions. The Delhi based batsman has once again made his willow talk during the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka at Colombo.
He reached his 29th ODI hundred after being forced to bat very early in the innings post- Dhawan’s wicket. He took attack straight on to Sri Lankan bowlers as he scored runs at a brisk pace. He managed to score another well made century and got dismissed at 131.
His innings contained 17 fours and two sixes but more importantly put India in a strong hold after his double century partnership with Rohit Sharma for the second wicket. The duo was perfect in their approach after losing the early wicket and took calculated risk to score runs at a quick pace.
Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli reached centuries and also managed to have their third double century stand in ODIs. Run machine Virat Kohli on the other hand, had 200-run stands with the likes of Gautam Gambhir (3), Shikhar Dhawan, Virender Sehwag, Kedhar Jadhav over the past few years.
Kohli has also managed to become the third highest century getter in ODIs after moving past Santh Jayasuriya who had 28 centuries to his name. He is only one century away to equal Ricky Ponting’s 30 ODI hundreds. It remains to be seen, how many more records, the young batsman will break in the coming years as he is just 28 now.
