Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc believes that Steven Smith will make a grand comeback to cricket. Smith is a hard worker and would be able to hit the ground running with his performances when he will make his return. In fact, Smith was able to conquer the number one rankings in Test cricket for the period of 32 months.
Meanwhile, Steven Smith was handed over a one-year ban after his role in controversial Cape Town Test. Furthermore, David Warner was also given a one-year ban. Cameron Bancroft received a nine months ban by the Australian cricket board.
Steven Smith is one of the best batsmen in the world.
However, the banned trisome has got themselves back to cricket. Starc said that it is nice to note that trio is back to playing the game. The fast bowler has confidence that Smith, Warner, and Bancroft will make a grand return.
“Knowing Steven Smith over the last few years – and actually even longer around the New South Wales set-up as well – he’s a tireless worker,” Starc told Omnisport. “He hits more balls than anyone, he just loves the game of cricket. I’ve no doubt that he and the other two can be back to the top of their games and be scoring hundreds and dominating bowling attacks around the world again,” he added.
Starc is happy to note the trio getting back to the game.
Meanwhile, Starc admitted the fact that the ball tampering saga was a difficult period for the Australian team. However, the lanky fast bowler said that it is good to note them return to the game they all love deeply.
“It was a tough few weeks – seeing all three of the guys, you wouldn’t wish upon anyone,” he added. “They’re back in cricket now, which is great to see all three of them playing cricket. Cam’s in Darwin and Dave and Steve have been playing in Canada. It’s great to see the three guys back in cricket, a game they love,” Mitchell Starc noted.
On the other hand, Starc also talked about his return to the game. The fiery fast bowler is hopeful to make a comeback against Pakistan in October. Starc had suffered a stress fracture on his leg. Thus, the southpaw bowler is going through the rehabilitation phase.
“If all’s going well and stays on track as it is I’ll be available for selection for that tour,” Starc said. Hopefully, I can get on that one and get back into cricket. It’s been a long and slow process – one I’m all too familiar with, unfortunately,” Mitchell Starc concluded.
