It was a special day for English speedster James Anderson on Friday as the Pavilion end on his home ground was renamed as the James Anderson End. His teammate Stuart Broad taking to his twitter handle congratulated Anderson on a wonderful achievement. Sharing the picture where Anderson is seen receiving a memento, Broad wrote, “What an achievement for @jimmy9 today- the most awkward handshake of all time… “Anderson will look forward to bowling from his end.

Anderson who is England’s leading wicket taker was honoured after the pavilion was named after him. He has arguably been the greatest England fast bowler and his records are a testimony to his achievements especially in the longest format of the game. Injuries have troubled him for the last couple of years but with age not by his side, the best he can hope is to finish on a high as he has already approached the twilight of his career.
Meanwhile, England is in the midst of a Test series against South Africa and the hosts are currently leading the series by a 2-1 margin. The visitors are missing the services of Vernon Philander and Chris Morris for the final Test currently in progress. Philander has been laid low by injuries of late and will and has been ruled out due to back spasms.
The hosts played a terrific brand of cricket in the opening Test at Lord’s and won the game by a convincing margin. It was the newly appointed captain Joe Root’s 190 which proved to be the difference between the two sides in the opening Test. The Proteas bounced back strongly in the 2nd Test and crushed the hosts by 344 runs, It was a sensational comeback by the visitors as they exposed the inexperienced England batting line-up.
The hosts made a dramatic comeback in the 3rd Test and thrashed the Proteas by 239 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the 4 match series. It was a great all-round show by the hosts especially after suffering a crushing defeat in the 2nd Test.
