Karaikudi Kaalai’s captain Subramaniam Badrinath is charged for slow over-rate during his side’s Eliminator clash against the Lyca Kovai Kings in the Tamil Nadu Premier League.
He will receive a one-match suspension for the offence. His suspension though won’t count in this particular tournament, as the Karaikudu Kaalai’s are already knocked out of the tournament, and his suspension will come into action from next season.
They lost by six wickets which ruled them out of the tournament. The Badrinath-led side was also earlier fined for the same criterion during the league phase of the competition. After repeating the offence for the 3rd time, he has been charged 100% of his match fees and has been handed a match suspension which will be active in the next edition of the tournament.
Karaikudi Kallai’s opted to bat first and riding on a whirlwind knock by Srikant Anirudh; they posted a more than decent 193 on the board after the end of their allotted 20 overs. Anirudh played a gem of an innings and was dismissed after scoring 79 of a mere 36 deliveries. His magnificent innings was studded with ten fours and five hits over the fence, as the Lyca Covai Kings were left scratching their heads during the onslaught.
Captain Badrinath also played a good hand and remained unbeaten on 42 of 25 deliveries. His innings was laced with five fours and a hit over the fence. Chasing the larger target, the Lyca Covai Kings were jolted early and were reduced for 30/2 in the 4th over. The resurrection job began from there on, as Ravi Kumar Rohith played once in a lifetime innings which left the Kallai’s bowlers to look utterly clueless.
He guided his team to a famous win in the final delivery of the 19th over by six wickets. Rohith smashed a sensational century and remained unbeaten on 102 of just 46 deliveries. His innings included six fours and eight8 hits over the fence.
