Sunil Gavaskar backs Rahul Dravid to coach Indian team 1

Batting legend Sunil Gavaskar said that BCCI should back Rahul Dravid to coach the Indian team and if BCCI are looking for a change, the former Indian captain is a best suitable candidate to take charge of Indian team.

“I have been saying that for long. Every player needs a cooling period (after retirement) and it seems Rahul Dravid has served his cooling period,” Gavaskar said.

“My honest advice to BCCI is that in case they are looking for a change there is no one better than Rahul Dravid,” he was quoted as saying by ‘NDTV’.

“I don’t think BCCI will find many better candidates than someone like him (Dravid). If he’s interested in doing the job, he will do a good job,” Ponting said.

“He’s got a lot of knowledge, is very experienced and understands all three formats.” Rahul Dravid has played cricket for years and knows the game in and out. Rahul Dravid is currently the mentor of Delhi Daredevils team in IPL 9 and was the mentor of Rajasthan Royals previously.

Sunil Gavaskar had echoed the name of Rahul Dravid after Duncan Fletcher tenure as a coach was ended.

Former Australian captain Ricky Pointing too has supported that Under 19 and India A coach will be the right guy to coach India. Rahul Dravid worked with youngsters and helped India under 19 team to reach the finals played in Bangladesh played this year where they lost to West Indies in the final.

Rahul Dravid has all the qualities to become Indian coach and can help Indian team to reach greater heights in test matches. They are scheduled to play 13 Test matches in the 2016-17 season against Bangladesh, New Zealand, England, Australia. It would be great for the Indian team to have him the coach of a national team which will help Indian cricket a lot.
