Sunil Gavaskar To Inaugurate A Stadium Named After Him In The US
The legendary Indian batsman, Sunil Gavaskar, is all set to be honoured with the biggest accolade in his life as the ‘Little Master’ will inaugurate a newly built stadium in the US, which has been named as the Sunil Gavaskar field. This is the first time when an Indian cricketer has been honoured with a stadium built after his name.

As per the tradition in India, the BCCI only honours the cricketers by naming a stand after their name, which can be proven by the fact that Gavaskar himself has a stand named after him at Wankhede stadium. Not just Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar too has a stand named after him, and it will be the first time when an Indian player will be honoured with a stadium named after him.
Incidentally, Gavaskar was denied entry into the Florida stadium last year when India went to the US to play two T20I games against Windies. Gavaskar was denied entry by security personnel when team India’s bus was going inside the stadium. Instead of getting frustrated with what happened, the former Indian cricketer enjoyed his time with the fans by clicking selfies with them, which was surprising to see.

Surely, this is probably the biggest honour which any Indian Indian player has received till now, and we might see BCCI also starting to take the same step in future to bestow the cricketing icons.
