Former Indian legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar recently recalled his meeting with MS Dhoni during the IPL 2011 where he told Dhoni that he’d love to say goodbye to this world while watching his 2011 World Cup-winning six. MS Dhoni, who retired from international cricket on 15th August, has left everyone emotional including veterans of the game recalling their best moments with him on and off the field.

The star cricketer retired as the only captain to win all major ICC trophies (ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, and Champions Trophy).

The cricketing world salutes MS Dhoni for the name he made for himself and his country at the biggest stage of the sport of cricket. His lightning-quick reflexes behind the stumps and his genius decisions on the field will be very hard to find an apt replacement for a time being.

Sunil Gavaskar Recalls Telling MS Dhoni That He Would Love To Watch His World Cup Winning Shot At His Death Bed:

1983 World Cup winner Sunil Gavaskar, reveals telling MS Dhoni that if he had a couple of minutes in the end of his life, he would utilise it to watch MS Dhoni’s World Cup winning shot because that would bring a smile to his face while saying goodbye to this world.

“A few days later IPL started, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were playing their first match and I was at the ground. I met MSD and said, ‘look in this world if I’ve got a couple of minutes left, I’m gonna ask someone to put that shot on because I’d love to see that shot and say goodbye to this world. Because that would be a fantastic way, I’d go with a smile on my face. That’s exactly what I had said to MSD and he was of course pretty modest about it. He smiled and didn’t say anything,” Sunil Gavaskar told India Today.
