The two great Indian stalwarts- Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar have been an important part of Indian cricket team history. Both players carved out a reputation for themselves as the finest players of their respective generations and inspired many players with their style of batting.

In fact, both the legends share a similar quality between each as both were called ‘little masters’ in their respective eras for the Indian national cricket team. Both the batting phenoms were 5 feet 5 inches tall hailing from the city of Mumbai.

Sachin Tendulkar would begin his game at a sedate pace by not taking too many risks in playing fancy shots. He was someone who scored centuries calmly as he wouldn’t rush to score runs. According to former English batsman Allan Lamb, Sachin Tendulkar’s approach is quite similar to that of Sunil Gavaskar’s.

“You take Virat Kohli…. Virat Kohli plays a bit like Viv Richards, very swagger, in people’s faces and all. (Sachin) Tendulkar got into these job quietly, just went around getting hundreds…. total different player, he wasn’t in people’s faces….if you look at him brilliant, the world’s best in his time. But you know, people try to compare Don Bradman with….he said Barry Richards was the best player you have ever seen, it is for Don Bradman to tell you like that,” Allan Lamb added in an exclusive interview with Cricket Addictor.

“(Sachin) Tendulkar quiet guy, a bit like (Sunil) Gavaskar when he played, Sunny did not say to much just got on with the game, you know Gava….elegant player when he played,” he added in a statement.

Allam Lamb was one of the finest players to have played for Northamptonshire. ‘The Allan Lamb room’ which is located in Northampton is named after the greatest player himself for his stellar cricketing career.
