According to the reports, Sunrisers Hyderabad is looking out for a new coach after finishing at the bottom of the points table in the IPL 2023. The Hyderabad-based franchise had a disastrous campaign in this edition of the cash-rich league as they could win only 4 out of the 14 games in the league stage to finish at the 10th position of the points table.
In the 2022 season, Sunrisers Hyderabad appointed Brian Lara as the new head coach of the franchise after parting ways with Tom Moody, but the West Indies legend could not inspire the team to perform in the high-octane tournament despite having many stalwarts in the line-up and some of his decisions came under the scanner after the poor campaign in 2023.
Sunrisers Hyderabad has been having a tough time in the cash-rich league in recent years as they could not make it into the playoffs for the third consecutive year in IPL. Before 2021, the team had made it to the playoffs for five successive seasons.
According to the reports in Cricbuzz, Brian Lara may be parting ways with the Hyderabad side due to the franchise’s dissatisfaction with his coaching style.
Meanwhile, Andy Flower who was released by Lucknow Super Giants is a contender for the Rajasthan Royals in coaching position and the Zimbabwe cricketer has a rich coaching career in cricket-winning franchise leagues around the globe.
Justin Langer was named as the head coach of Lucknow Super Giants and he is known for his aggressive approach in cricket and also was the coach of the Australian squad that won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2021.
The 55-year-old brought a lot of experience to the table when he joined the Lucknow Super Giants as their head coach in 2022. Under his coaching of him, they secured titles for Multan Sultans (2021) and Gulf Giants (2022) in the PSL and ILT20 (2023) and Kumar Sangakkara is likely to retain the position of the Director of Cricket in the team.
It is reported that Royal Challengers Bangalore are also looking in for new coaching staff for the next season, as they could not lead the team to the playoffs this season. Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar are likely to face the axe in the coaching setup.
