IPL franchises Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad were involved in a funny banter on Twitter which saw likes of Yuvraj Singh, Start Broad, David Warner and Ben Stokes getting mentioned in their tweets. SRH had the last laugh as the banter ended on a lighter note. Rajasthan Royals tweeted that they can’t wait to read Stokes’ book, where he has severely criticised Australian players, especially Warner.

SRH, a team which Warner plays for, came with an epic reply but RR brought in Broad, who troubled the left-handed batsman during Ashes 2019. The debate ended with SRH bringing in their former player Yuvraj, who had hit six sixes off Broad back in 2007. Here is the conversation between the two IPL franchises –

In his book named ‘On Fire’. Stokes has written that Australians, especially Warner, were chirpy during his 135-run knock in Headingley.

“I had extra personal motivation due to some things that were said to me out on the field on the evening of day three when I was trying to get through to stumps,” Stokes writes in his book. “A few of the Aussies were being quite chirpy, but in particular, David Warner seemed to have his heart set on disrupting me. He just wouldn’t shut up for most of my time out there. I could accept it from just about any other opponent. Truly. Not from him, though,” he wrote.

Stokes steered England to a famous victory in the third Test to help his team level the series. Chasing a target of 359, England were 286/9 at one stage. Stokes led the charge and played a gritty 135-run knock to lead England to a famous win.

Never during the tenth wicket partnership, he slowed down and forced Australian captain Tim Paine to push his fielders on the boundary ropes. Jack Leach, whose glasses were more talked about than his solitary run, survived for 17 balls.

Australia would gain the series lead again by winning the fourth Test but a defeat in the fifth Test meant the series ended 2-2. Australia retained the Ashes’ run by virtue of winning the series in 2017/18 at home.

Talking of IPL, nether Yuvraj nor Broad will in the auction. The former has retired from the T20 league while Broad does not play white-ball cricket now. He is James Anderson’s new-ball partner in Tests and only plays county cricket when free from international assignments.

Stokes, a key member of Rajasthan Royals, was retained by the franchise. Warner, who led SRH to a title victory in 2016, was also one of the retained players. He might also go on to take over the captaincy from Kane Williamson in the next season of the T20 league.
