Sunrisers Hyderabad overcame a mini-collapse to register their second win of the season with a thrilling 1 5-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians.

Chasing a modest 148, Shikhar Dhawan and Wriddhiman Saha laid the platform for an easy chase with a 62-run stand. The stand was broken when Mayank Markande accounted for Saha. His dismissal turned the match on its head as Mumbai clawed their way back by taking two more quick wickets. From 62 for 0, they found themselves reeling at 77 for 3. More importantly, they lost Dhawan and Kane Williamson.

Markande then took his third wicket, dismissing Manish Pandey to reduce Mumbai to 89 for 4. They soon found themselves five down with just 107 runs on the board. But before the visitors could make further inroads in the game, Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan stitched together a 29-run stand to all but seal the game. Jasprit Bumrah broke the partnership by dismissing Pathan. At that time, the hosts needed 12 off 14 balls. But on the very next ball, Bumrah dismissed Rashid Khan to throw the game wide open.

In the following over, Mustafizur Rahman conceded just 1 runs and took the wicket of Siddharth Kaul off his four balls to put Mumbai on top. One ball later, the Bangladesh star sent back Sandeep Sharma, leaving the hosts requiring 11 off the final over with one wicket in hand.

Hooda started the last over on a perfect note, hitting Ben Cutting for a maximum. The following delivery was a wide which brought the equation to 4 off 5. The game went right down to the wire as Sunrisers won the contest on the last ball.

Earlier in the game, the Sunrisers came up with another solid bowling display to restrict Mumbai Indians to a modest 147 for 8.

The visitors were off to a poor start once again as Rohit Sharma departed for just 11 courtesy of a brilliant diving catch from Shakib Al Hasan. Evin Lewis and Ishan Kishan then steadied the ship by adding 37 runs. However, Siddharth Kaul dismissed both of them in quick succession to put the hosts on top.

Mumbai soon found themselves in further trouble when Krunal Pandya failed to get going too. As a result, they found themselves reeling at 72 for 4 inside 9 overs. At the end of 10 overs, the scoreboard was reading 78 for 4. The quick wickets helped the home side to tighten things as Kieron Pollard and Suryakumar Yadav struggled to score at a good pace.  They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals which never allowed their innings to get the impetus. As a result, they ended up with a below-par score.
