Support staff will be selected by September 15: Thakur

The president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Anurag Thakur on Sunday confirmed that the board will decide upon the support staff before September 15. He told that BCCI will table a meeting for selecting the support staff which will be attended by the head coach Anil Kumble and other board members. The new support staff will be selected after consulting all the members.

“We will decide on the appointment of the coaches for bowling, batting and fielding and other support staff at the meeting,” Thakur said.

He also said few words on the appointment of Anil Kumble as the head coach for just a period of one year “Based on his performance, the decision on the contract would be taken.” Thakur said from Coimbatore.

He also put an end upon all the speculations regarding day-night Test between India and New Zealand and said “The New Zealand tour of India will be day matches. For now, pink ball will be used only for the Duleep Trophy which will be a day-and-night affair,”

Anurag Thakur was appointed as the BCCI chief on May 22 2016, succeeding Shashank Manohar. He is the third youngest person to hold the post. Under his regime, Anil Kumble has been selected as the head coach of the Indian cricket team.

His appointment has invited praises and allegations in the same number. The former Indian director Ravi Shastri alleged that the member of advisory committee has been unfair to him but now all the matter seems to be sought out and Kumble is all set to start his first tour as a coach.

A success here will put an end to the entire allegations but the case can be different if results are not in favour of the Indian team.
