Suresh Raina had a lucky escape on Tuesday (September 12) when one of the tyres of the Range Rover he was travelling in randomly burst. According to police, the accident took place at 2 am near Etawah.
The left-handed batsman was going to Kanpur from Ghaziabad to participate in Duleep Trophy. He will lead India Green in its tournament-opener against India Red on Wednesday (September 13) at Kanpur’s Green Park stadium.
The police report also claimed that the consequences had been terrible if the car had been going at high speed. But fortunately, nothing bad happened as the police confirmed that the batting star did not suffer any injury.

The police then arranged for another car to help Raina complete his journey as the Range Rover did not have any spare tyre.
Meanwhile, the 30-year old will be keen to forget the mishap and perform well in the Duleep Trophy to bring his international career on track which is going downhill for quite some time now. His last One-Day International appearance had come in October 2015 against South Africa, and although he was recalled to the team for the New Zealand series last year which he missed due to illness, he is yet to get a recall for the ODI team. Earlier this year, he was in the team for the T20I squad against England and had performed well.

A good performance in the IPL saw him getting a place on the standby list for the Champions Trophy, but he has not been considered for the series after the tournament in England. Recently, he has also been ignored for the upcoming series against Australia.
And while his chances of returning to the team are looking bleak at the moment, he is upbeat about it and is just concentrating on working hard.
“I just want to tell people that I am working hard and I am not the thanda type. I always believed in hard work. 60% is your hard work and 40% is your luck. Look at Yuvraj, he did the same, he worked very hard and came back. Sachin Tendulkar told me very nice thing other day, sab achha hai, you don’t need to prove anyone. You have done so much, you just need enjoy your cricket. I always made with high intensity. I know my chance will come,” he was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
