Suresh Raina has been a pillar of strength for the Chennai Super Kings. The vibrant southpaw has not missed even a single game for the franchise ever since the IPL began. Raina is the leading run getter in the history of the IPL and his role in the side is crystal clear. It is Raina’s duty to amplify the strength of Chennai’s mighty batting. In the outfield as well, Raina is as energetic as ever. The icing on the cake has been his bowling. Skipper Dhoni can completely rely on Raina to deliver a couple of miserly overs.
In this edition of the IPL however, Raina has not set the stage on fire by any means. By Raina’s world class standards, the numbers associated with him do not justify his batting prowess. He has just two half centuries so far, with half the tournament already over. Nonetheless, Raina himself is feeling very confident about his own form and has an optimistic view about himself.
After trouncing the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 24 runs, Raina was looking as confident as ever and said that he was completely aware about his role in the side.
Raina said, “I have made runs in the last seven seasons and I am very proud of those performances, but I am enjoying my batting this season more than before. I may be scoring 20-30 runs but my frame of mind is very good this year.”
“I have been getting out playing proper cricketing shots and the ball is often going straight to the fielders. But I feel really good about my batting, concluded Raina.
