Indian allrounder Suresh Raina has confirmed that there is no pressure despite making a comeback to the ODI squad after an year. The 29-year old was selected for the upcoming series against New Zealand and will represent India in 50 over format for the first time since the South Africa series last year.

However, he believes that he has always been an integral part of the ODI squad as he looks to make the most of the opportunity. He has been in great form in IPL as he has piled up runs for Gujarat Lions in their maiden edition.

One of the most disappointing things is that Raina has failed to replicate the form in domestic circuit while playing for Team India as he had a woeful time when called into the T20 side earlier this year.

“There is no pressure on me as I have always been an integral part of the ODI team. I was only rested when the youngsters were given exposure during the Zimbabwe ODI series. Whether I was rested or dropped (for the Zimbabwe trip), I will strive to cement my place in the Indian team,” he said with an air of confidence.

“I am confident of my abilities, be it ODIs or T20s. I have been hitting the ball sweetly in the nets and it augurs well for me as India have a long season ahead. We have been doing well in Test matches, now it is time to continue that good work in ODIs too,” he added.

The 29-year old is a doubt for the match against New Zealand at Dharmasala but the southpaw has confirmed that he has recovered from the viral fever and is in contention for the match.

“It was just a touch of flu. Now I have recovered and am back in the nets. I will soon join the Indian team in Dharamshala for the opening ODI match there.
