Suresh Raina Relives Old Times With Gary Kirsten In The Netherlands 1

Far from the hustle and bustle of international cricket, India’s out of favour batsman Suresh Raina is spending some quality time in The Netherlands where his wife works. And the 30-year old has been lucky enough to meet some special persons in the European country. Few days after meeting Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the southpaw got a chance to relive his golden days in the Indian team when he got a chance to catch up with former India coach Gary Kirsten as he practised with the South African in The Netherlands. Kirsten is currently in the country for a three-day training camp with the U-17 Netherlands team.

Raina was a part of the Indian team that had won the 2011 World Cup under Kirsten. The Uttar Pradesh star took to Twitter to share a photo of him with Kirsten with the caption: :It’s so nice to be practicing with this super talented man! There is always so much to learn from you @Gary_Kirsten.”

In another tweet, he shared his delight over sharing his experience with the group.

“It was wonderful meeting up with the whole group and to be able to share experiences,” he tweeted.

Raina, meanwhile, is looking to win back his place in India’s ODI team. The left-handed batsman, whose last ODI appearance came way back in 2015, was recalled in the team for the five-match series against New Zealand last year but he could not play a single game due to health issues. He was included in the T20 team for the series against England earlier this year but is still waiting to get a call for the 50-overs team.

He was included in the five-man standby list for the Champions Trophy after an impressive outing in Indian Premier League where he scored 442 runs in 14 matches.
