MS Dhoni will only be the sixth Indian player ever to represent the nation in 300 ODIs when he plays in the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka on Thursday.
The achievement is by no means an ordinary feat, as it represents years of consistency at the highest level with only five players so far reaching the magic mark. Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh are the only players from India who have managed to play 300 ODIs or more in their careers.
MS Dhoni will be the latest to join the legends in the list and wishes have been pouring in for India’s most successful captain. One of his closest pals on the field, Suresh Raina has also sent a message to the 36-year-old ahead of his 300th ODI. The tweet read:
“The iconic wicketkeeper-batsman @msdhoni gets ready for his 300th ODI match! My wishes to the man who always inspires me! #INDvsSL #Dhoni300”

MS Dhoni was one of the primary reasons in helping Suresh Raina get settled in the Indian team, and he always backed the southpaw to deliver hugely. The Ranchi born hard hitter has made a name for himself among the very best captains in world cricket during his tenure as the Indian skipper.
His cool head in the tensest situations and his ability to finish the games in crunch situations made him a crowd favourite all around the world. He is also in an extra ordinary form in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka, as he played a huge hand in reviving India from precarious situations in the last two ODIs.
Despite doubts looming over his participation in the 2019 World Cup, the legendary batsman is currently enjoying his batting and could make it easier to the main event in two years time if he maintains the current level of form.
Even, the God of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar posted a tweet for India’s legendary wicketkeeper batsman ahead of his 300th ODI.
Wearing the ODI cap for the 300th time is definitely a special achievement! Hope you have a great game today, @msdhoni! #Dhoni300 pic.twitter.com/y6DrhdJ4Rx
