Suresh Raina supports biopic on cricketers! 1

A few days ago Gautam Gambhir claimed that cricketers do not deserve biopics. The southpaw said that people who have contributed more to the nation deserve them instead of a cricketer. However, his former teammate Suresh Raina does not agree with him and said that the biopics inspire people.

Talking to Hindustan Times, the left-handed batsman said that the biopics give the fans an opportunity to know more about a players’ life.

“You never know the true story of why someone like a Tendulkar or a Dhoni became a cricketer. They too were simple just like anyone else, but they did something that made them famous. When a biopic gets made on the life of a cricketer, people get to know the struggles they went through to become icons of  the country and the sport. For me, I am more excited about Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic than Dhoni paji’s. I followed Sachin since childhood and I am excited to know what sacrifices he made in his life to be who he is,” Raina said.

“No one knows a complete truth . Based on the interviews or whatever comes on the television, you only know about someone’s life in bits and pieces. With a biopic, a fan will know what goes behind the scenes and get inspired to do something for themselves and the country,” he added.

When he was asked about whether he was expecting a biopic on his life, the Uttar Pradesh batsman said:“I am not sure someone should make a biopic on me right now. Main to abhi bhi khel  hi raha hun  (laughs). But, maybe, someone like a Sidharth Malhotra or Shahid Kapoor will be the perfect choice,” he says.

Currently out of the Indian team, the 29-year old is in Poland right now where he is working on his cricket academy.
