Indian left hander batsman Suresh Raina is in trouble as UNP Colombo District MP SM Marikkar questioned Minister of sports on Raina issue where the Indian cricketer spent time with a woman at the Hotel Kandalama who had been linked to a bookie during India’s visit to Sri Lanka for the 2010 Asia Cup.
The MP also wants to get the full report regarding the investigations which was done by the Sri Lankan Cricket Board . If there are no reports, the MP wants the minister to reveal the names of the official who are responsible for destroying those reports. He also demanded to know that if there are no investigation reports then will the Hosue conduct any investigation regarding that.
Now, Raina is playing the ongoing ICC World T20 2016. India beat Australia by six wickets on Sunday and will face West Indies in the semi-final on Friday at Wankhede, Mumbai.
The UK-based newspaper, Sunday Times said that the ICC investigated the reasons why the BCCI did not do anything on the report that they received from the Sri Lankan cricket board that Raina was with the woman who has been associated with a bookie.
However, the BCCI has refuted the allegations and said that there was no truth in the same. They also said that they had not received any report from the Sri Lankan board regarding any particular player.
According to Rajeev Shukla, a BCCI member, the woman was Raina’s agent and there was no relation between Raina and the bookies.
There are pictures of Raina being in the company of the woman on more than one occasion during their recent tour of Sri Lanka.
