After losing the first One day International against Bangladesh in Mirpur by 79 runs, Suresh Raina said that India is a better team than Bangladesh as a whole. The Bangladesh team played some brilliant cricket in the first ODI. Bangladesh scored 307 runs, and while chasing India got off to flying start but nobody was able to put big partnerships.
Suresh Raina said that India are better team than Bangladesh in the shorter format and would come stronger in the second One day International to played on Sunday. The loss came as shock for India and it is hurting us a lot. Raina credited the performances of Bangladesh for the recent success in One day International cricket. Bangladesh has made rapid strides in ODIs. Suresh Raina said that Bangladesh cricket is improving day by day but India is on a different level. It is just that India didn’t play well that day. Suresh Raina said that they have to put all the energy in the remaining two games in making a strong comeback. India have played some excellent cricket of late reaching to the semi finals of the World Cup 2015 but lost to a better team.
India was given a target of 308 but some excellent bowling by Bangladesh pacers helped them register a comfortable. India should have chased down that target given the quality of the batting line up they had. Muzatfir Rahman and Taskin Ahmed bowled well and did not allow our batsmen to score runs with ease. India lost wickets at regular intervals and never managed a good partnership. Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina tried to steady the innings but lost wicket at crucial. One defeat doesn’t make them a bad team but Ravi Shastri told them the way India can make a comeback in the next match will show the character.
India is 2nd in the ICC rankings while Bangladesh has jumped to 7th because of the win against India. Bangaldesh whitewashed Pakistan 3-0 and has won 9 games at home which shows the consisentcy of the team. India needs to be careful not to repeat the mistakes from the 1st ODI.
