The left-handed Indian batsman Suresh Raina has been going through a rough patch. The flamboyant stroke player who was once known to be one of the deadliest finishers of the game has fallen massively out of favour of the Indian selectors in recent times.
While the Uttar Pradesh star has been oozing with confidence about making a scintillating comeback to the national side, the selectors have shattered his dreams every time, be it the Sri Lanka series or the contest against Australia. It came to speculation that Suresh Raina along with compatriot Yuvraj Singh failed to qualify the yo-yo test in the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru during ahead of the ODI series against Sri Lanka which was the main reason behind their exclusion.

Strangely, both of the names mentioned above have been at the forefront of a revolution in the Indian fielding department and for them to fail the fitness test came as a shock. After taking in some expert advice from the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, Suresh Raina went back to the grueling domestic format to script his return.
However Indian fielding coach R.Sridhar is not ruling out Raina completely.
“I wouldn’t like to comment on Suresh Raina (exclusion) but once he is through with the fitness parameters I’m sure he will be very much a part of the whole process,” said Sridhar putting some light on the fitness issue of the cricketers.

“The fitter the player, the better the results are on the field. A stunning diving catch to someone who is not fit may be an easy one for someone who is. Or, running three (successive) threes may be easy for the player who is fit but may it may be a three and two twos for someone who isn’t. All these add up in the end,” concluded Sridhar.
