Australian media reacts after the hosts lost the historic Ashes on their soil to England in 2010.

On December 29, 2010, during the fourth day of the Melbourne Test, England wrapped up Australia for 258 runs in their second innings and registered a thumping innings and 157 runs win over them, resulting in regaining the Ashes after 24 long years on the visitor’s soil.

Australia started off badly, getting all out under hundred (98) in the first innings. Four wickets from bowling all-rounder Tim Bresnan and as many from Chris Tremlett wrecked havoc for the visitors. Jonathan Trott’s unbeaten 168 in the first innings shut down all hopes of hosts making a comeback, as Bresnan rose to the occasion again, scalping four wickets in the second innings too.

England won the match convincingly and later took the urn home after winning the fifth and final Test match at Sydney by an innings and 83 runs.
