New Zealand’s Martin Guptill smashed an unbeaten 93 on just 30 balls against Sri Lanka in an ODI match on December 28, 2015.

New Zealand opener Martin Guptill wreaked havoc against Sri Lanka in an ODI match in Christchurch on this day an year back, when he cut loose and scored an unbeaten 93 off mere 30 balls to register a chase of 118 runs in 8.2 overs.

His blistering knock of 93 contained nine boundaries and eight big sixes. Guptill’s 17-ball fifty, was the fastest recorded by a New Zealander and also equalled the record for the second-fastest in One Day Internationals.

In the same year, he smashed 237 against the West Indies in the group-stage match of World Cup 2015, breaking Chris Gayle’s record of highest runs (215 vs Zimbabwe) in an innings in World Cup.
