Much contrary to his reputation as a bowler by the end of his international career, Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne made his debut, a horrific debut rather, against India at Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney on this day in 1992.

Shane in his first bowling stint conceded 150 runs with just one wicket, that of Ravi Shastri, who scored a magnificent 206 in the first innings. The leg-spinner, however, went wicket-less in the next Test at Adelaide also, putting a question mark on his selection in the national side.

He, by the time, took retirement from the game in 2007, had exactly one wicket more than 1000 to his name, with largely coming in Test matches, 718.
