The former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is likely to play for Jharkhand in last league stage game against Bengal at Eden Gardens on February 5. It is to be noted that the Indian team is to play the third and last T20 game against England on February 1 and there might be a chance when Dhoni, who has spent a substantial time with his state team earlier, might join the Jharkhand squad for the last league stage game,
“The T20I series against England will get over on February 1 [in Bangalore] and on his way back [to Ranchi] he’s likely to join the team here.”
a team official said.
Dhoni, since his retirement, has been spending a lot of time with his state team Jharkhand. In the last season, he also played complete Vijay Hazare Trophy for them. Before the start of the Rani Trophy 2016/17, Dhoni again landed in the state camp and had a net session with the team at Karnail Singh Stadium in Delhi. He again landed in the team’s camp in the semi-final game against Gujarat. It was the same period when he met the chief selector of Indian team MSK Prasad and relinquished the captaincy on the final day of the game.
Dhoni is expected to bolster the chances of his team. He might also go on to play the inter-zonal league of the tournament followed by Vijay Hazare Trophy, as the former Indian skipper will be ideal at that time and will be available for his team.
