Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2017: Ajinkya Rahane Named in Mumbai Squad, Karn Sharma To Lead Railways

Ajinkya Rahane, who has been dropped from the Indian T20 squad for the series against England has been named in the Mumbai squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2017.

The 15-member squad also includes 45-year old Pravin Tambe, who has been plying his trade in the shortest format of the game for the state since making his IPL debut in the year 2013 for Rajasthan Royals.

Aditya Tare has been named as the skipper of the side comprising of young guns Shreyas Iyer, Armaan Jaffer and Jay Bista. Veteran Abhishek Nayar has also been named in the squad whereas Shardul Thakur, who has an ankle niggle has been not been included in the side.

Mumbai will be taking on Baroda, Gujarat, Saurashtra and Maharashtra before the tournament goes to the inter-zonal stage.

Mumbai Squad – Aditya Tare (c/wk), Armaan Jaffer, Jay Bista, Prathamesh Dake, Aditya Dhumal, Shivam Dubey, Shreyas Iyer, Eknath Kerkar, Abhishek Nayar, Sairaj Patil, Rakesh Prabhu, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohan Raje, Shashank Singh, Pravin Tambe.

  • Karn Sharma To Lead Railways – 

Karn Sharma will be leading the Railways squad in the zonal T20 league. The right-arm leg-spinner is one of the senior members of the squad and is also a regular member in IPL. In the 2014 auction, he became the highest paid uncapped player.

Railways squad also includes Anureet Singh, an occasional member of India A squad. Veteran Mahesh Rawat has been selected as the wicket-keeper batsman.

It’s the best opportunity for players like Karn and Anureet to perform here and hit jackpot at IPL auction.

Railways, a central zone team will be taking on Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Uttar Pradesh, Chhatisgarh and Rajasthan in the zonal league. They will be playing all their matches at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
