After winning the toss, Maharashtra decided to bowl first. Bowlers had a good start as they scalped two early wickets but Yusuf Pathan and young Deepak Hooda steered the team aand helped them cross the 100-run mark. Both propelled Baroda ahead to post a total of 168 on the board.
In reply, Maharashtra had a good start as Swapnil Gugale, who shared a record partnership with Ankit Bawane in the Ranji season, went on to add 34 runs with Vijay Zol. The responsibility was on Zol to then lead the team and he finally came up with a match-winning knock as with support from other batsmen, Zol led the team to a win.
