From Test cricket to One-Day internationals to T20I, the time has arrived to welcome the T10 cricket.

With time, cricket has experienced a reduction in its format. The game has become more glittery in the past one decade. Now a new league is about to begin in the UAE. The tournament will be 10-overs a side; ideally, such format is known as ‘gully cricket’.

Moreover, star players like Chris Gayle, Shahid Afridi, Virender Sehwag and Kumar Sangakkara have agreed to participate in the league.

The league will include celebrities, shows and performances during a match and each match will be of 90 minutes. However, the players will get divided through a draft system. The league will be a gala time for both the players and the audience as it will also include pre-event parties, red carpet events, concerts, celebrity gatherings.

The teams which will participate are Punjabis, Pakhtoons, Marathas, Banglas, Lankans, Sindhis and Keralites, whereas, former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi is set to lead the Pakhtoons.

Akram said,

“I’ve worked with Viru in the past, and it is always great to spend time with him, when I knew we were working together, I joked with Viru that I would be conducting a fitness test for him as soon as he joined the team.”

Akram feels that the league could help bridge the gap between the two nations,

“It is unfortunate that there is no Pakistani participation in the IPL and equally that there aren’t more Indians in this league, I always love travelling to India and working there, I’ve made some really close friends there and having not gone there in the last two years I miss the people, the culture, the environment.”
