T20 World Cup For Visually Impaired: Record-Breaking India Thrash West Indies By 142 Runs 1

Defending champions India warmed up for their crunch clash against Pakistan in style by thrashing the West Indies by 142 runs in their second match in the T20 cricket World Cup for visually impaired in Faridabad.

After being asked to bat first, India openers Deepak Malik and Anis Beig started brilliantly as they added 57 runs for the first wicket off only 34 balls before the latter was castled by Kevin Douglas. D Venkatesh (11) got out cheaply but Malik along with Sunil added 189 runs for the third wicket to put India in a solid position. The partnership was broken when Malik was clean bowled by Gregory Stewart for 80. Malik’s 80-run knock came off only 46 balls and was studded 13 fours. On the other hand, Sunil did not lose focus after losing his partner and kept on bulldozing the West Indies bowlers as he scored 113 off only 49 balls. Ganesh Mundakar too chipped in with a quickfire 23 to help India post a mammoth 305 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs.

In reply, the West Indies batsmen failed to attack the Indian bowlers at any stage of the game and were restricted to only 163 for 5. Dennal Deboya Shim (40) and Kevin Douglas (27*) were the notable contributors for their team while Deepak Malik, Ajay Kumar Reddy and Dunna Venkatesh picked up a wicket each to lead India to a thumping win.

Earlier, the hosts had defeated Bangladesh by 129 runs on Day 1 and will look to continue their winning run when they take on Pakistan.
