T20I World Cup 2022 slated to begin a month later witnessed over 5,00,000 tickets sold by fans. The India v Pakistan contest is sold out. The T20I World Cup 2022 will get underway with qualifiers from October 16. With just about a month left for the T20I World Cup 2022 to get underway in Australia, over 5,00,000 tickets have already been snapped up by fans from 82 different countries.

A total of 16 teams will be taking part in the marquee event- T20I World Cup 2022 which will kick off with qualifiers on October 16 and it will be the first time since the Women’s T20I World Cup in 2022 that stadiums will be open to full capacities. The final of the Women’s T20I World Cup was played out in front of a record 86,174 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2022: India vs Pakistan At MCG Sold Out; Over 5 Lakh Tickets Purchased So Far

Among the tickets sold for T20I World Cup 2022, around 85,000 are children’s tickets, as per a statement from ICC. Tickets for kids at all First Round and Super 12 matches have been priced at $5 while adult prices start from $20.

The India v Pakistan T20I World Cup 2022 contest, slated to be played at the MCG on 23 October, is sold out. The additional standing room tickets were also snapped up within minutes of going on sale.

“An official re-sale platform will be launched closer to the event, where fans can exchange tickets at face value,” ICC said.

Current ticket allocations are also all sold for the double-header at the SCG on 27 October featuring South Africa v Bangladesh and India v Group A runner-up.

“Fans are encouraged to join the waitlist in the event of additional tickets becoming available,” the statement from the cricket’s governing body read.

A limited number of tickets are available now for Australia’s opening Super 12 fixture against New Zealand at the SCG on 22 October, the double-header featuring Pakistan vs Group A runner-up and India v South Africa at Perth Stadium on 30 October, and Pakistan v South Africa at the SCG on 3 November.

The ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2022 is the eighth edition of the multi-nation tournament. The marquee tournament is scheduled to commence on October 16 with the group stage matches. The Super 12 stage will begin on October 22 and the summit clash is set to take place on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

“We are delighted by the uptake of tickets for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with over 500,000 already being snapped up. The excitement is really building with just over a month to go and this World Cup is set to be an unmissable event. There are still some tickets available to buy, so fans should make sure they secure theirs while they are still available,” ICC Head of Events, Chris Tetley said.

ICC Men’s T20I World Cup CEO Michelle Enright said there’s been support for different teams and is happy that more kids will be witnessing the showpiece event.

“We’ve also seen a spread of support for different teams across the event, which is going to make for an incredible atmosphere at our matches with a strong mix of passionate fans at each venue.”

“We’re particularly proud of our accessibly priced tickets for families and it’s great to see that so many kids are going to come out and experience a World Cup. There are still some great tickets available, so I’d encourage everyone who hasn’t secured their seats to jump on board for what will be an unmissable event,” she said.

8 teams have already qualified for the super 12 round of T20I World Cup 2022. They are India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, South Africa, England, Australia, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. There are divided into 2 groups- group 1 and group 2.

England, Afghanistan, New Zealand, and Australia are part of group 1. India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh are part of group 2. Two more teams will join each group after the qualifier round. In the qualifier rounds, there are teams like Sri Lanka, Namibia, UAE, Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Scotland, and West Indies. 4 teams out of these will join the super 12 round.
