Rahul Dravid has avoided making any controversial statement related to the future of MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. The two veterans of the Indian cricket team are currently on the radar of the critics who feel that it’s time to make a decision regarding their longevity and effectiveness keeping in mind the 2019 World Cup.

During a recent chat with the media, Rahul Dravid was asked about his thought regarding Yuvi and Dhoni’s place in the team. The India U-19 coach reacted in a neutral way.

“It is a call that is got to be taken by the selectors and the management,” Dravid said when asked about future of Yuvraj and Dhoni.

Both MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh will be required to stay in top notch form in order avoid such judgemental calls. But, it will be very hard for them to do so. Most recent example is the just-concluded Champions Trophy 2017 which ended as a mild affair for both the individuals.

Yuvraj Singh made just 105 runs in 4 innings with the best figures of 53 which came against Pakistan in the opening game at Edgbaston. Dhoni, on the other hand, made just 67 runs in five matches. The positive fact, however, is that he played only two innings – one of which includes a knock of 63 against Sri Lanka. His second opportunity to bat came in the final against Pakistan where he failed badly.

Yuvraj has not spoken clearly about his future. He has been making hard comebacks despite getting dropped, indicating that he still wants to play at the highest level. Dhoni has also maintained that he will try to stay around till the 2019 World Cup.

But, with younger options becoming available, the selectors might act tough when mulling over their presence in the squad before each and every series from now on. Team India is already set to welcome the teenage sensation wicket keeper batsman Rishabh Pant into the team during away series against West Indies which begins this weekend. An another promising name like Krunal Pandya also are in the reckoning.

The future looks bright for Team India considering the talent available but the selectors will have a tricky time making decision revolving senior players like Yuvi and Dhoni.
